This is the 21st anniversary year of Thames 21 which was established to improve the health of the River Thames and its tributaries. The London Rivers Week festival focuses on nature recovery and water quality.

The Brent River Walk is being organised jointly by Ramblers and the Brent River & Canal Society. It will explore some of the most attractive stretches of this lesser-known river and learn about the work of volunteers from CURB (Clean Up the River Brent) to monitor and improve its water quality.

Starting at Osterley Lock, we will walk through old Hanwell and under the famous Wharncliffe Viaduct to Brent Lodge Park where we’ll have a short refreshment break. Either bring a picnic or there is a small cafe where drinks, ice-creams and snacks can be purchased. The walk continues up to Greenford Bridge and then follows the Brent eastwards to Pitshanger Park where the walk will finish.

There are frequent buses from Pitshanger Lane to Ealing Broadway (Elizabeth, Central and District Lines).
